The development of our new EGO-X exhaust system for the Audi S5 B10 TFSI Mild-Hybrid quattro has reached the next decisive milestone:

The system has successfully passed the ECE noise measurement and can be pre-ordered from now on.

As usual, the complete system is developed, tested and manufactured in our manufactory in Lübeck.

From 2x 63 mm to 89 mm – flow-optimised exhaust routing

The EGO-X was developed specifically for the new Audi S5 B10 with the 3.0-litre TFSI Mild-Hybrid, 270 kW / 367 hp and relies on completely newly designed piping.

The system first takes over the exhaust flow dual-channel with 2x 63 mm. The two exhaust branches are then merged into a generously dimensioned 89 mm (3.5 inch) pipe.

A decisive difference compared with the standard exhaust system: on the EGO-X the standard front silencer is omitted completely. This allows the exhaust routing to be designed consistently for high throughput and the lowest possible exhaust back pressure.

In the rear section the system continues with 76 mm to the exhaust valves. The exhaust flow is then distributed across a total of four 63 mm tailpipes.

The EGO-X was developed specifically for the Audi S5 B10 TFSI Mild-Hybrid quattro with a displacement of 2,995 cm³ and 270 kW / 367 hp.

Instead of merely adapting an existing exhaust system to the new vehicle generation, the piping was matched to the technical characteristics of the S5 B10 and the DWVA engine.

Starting from the two 63 mm exhaust branches, the exhaust gases are merged into a generously dimensioned 89 mm main pipe. The standard front silencer is omitted completely. In the rear section the system continues with 76 mm to the exhaust valves, followed by distribution to four 63 mm tailpipes.

ECE approval

The noise measurement required for ECE homologation was passed successfully. A corresponding ECE approval is supplied.

The EGO-X exhaust system can therefore be installed in Germany without any additional entry in the vehicle documents and used on public roads, provided the vehicle corresponds to the approved scope of use.

Production and preparation are already under way. Shipping will take place as soon as the first batch has been manufactured and the ECE version can be officially delivered.

EGO-X – two sound characters, one system

Immediately after the OPF, the EGO-X for the Audi S5 B10 relies on consistently flow-optimised exhaust routing. The standard front silencer is omitted completely, while the two 63 mm exhaust branches merge into a generously dimensioned 89 mm main pipe.

From there the system continues with 76 mm to the exhaust valves and then distributes the exhaust flow to four 63 mm tailpipes.

With the valves open, a considerably more present and emotional sound comes to the fore. When the valves are closed, the exhaust flow is routed via the integrated sound damping and the noise level for everyday driving is significantly reduced.

In this way the new EGO-X combines high exhaust throughput, completely newly developed piping and the omission of the standard front silencer with the everyday usability of the original Audi valve control.
